D'Uh.....It's Art!!!!!!!

I've been sad.  At first I thought it was because it's been raining for a month and I have S.A.D. but then I realized as I looked around that other people aren't sad.  I started remembering the last time I laughed and realized that it was last Thursday when Hot Chocolate and I were looking at the new statuary in his neighbourhood.  He seemed happy, relaxed and looked happy when he met people on the walk and actually stopped to chat with them without threatening to rip off their head.  I want to look happy, relaxed and non-violent like that.  It must be the new marble fire hydrant art work in his hood  that's making him that way.

Hmmmm........I know!

And finally the piece de resistance......

Stranger:  "Ummm.....what are you doing?"
Perp:  "Taping a lawn gnome to a fire hydrant."
Stranger:  "Why?"
Perp:  "D'uh!  It's art!"

This pictures for you Dad.  Cy's Pumpkin Pie?

Once upon a time there was an artist named Perpetual Chocoholic who lived in a city. Once a week she and her friend Hot Chocolate liked to walk through his neighbourhood snapping pictures and finding inspiration for future works of art.

This week in Hot Chocolates neighbourhood there was something new!  The city decided to beautify Hot Chocolates neighbourhood (which is trendy and yuppy and pays really high taxes)  so they commissioned an artist(s?) to make these:

....and many, many more for many, many blocks.

But Perpetual Chocoholic isn't jealous or upset because her neighbourhood hasn't got any fancy statuary!  Because the city gives something to her neighbourhood (full of elderly peoples who've paid high taxes their whole lives) too!  It gives them this:

.....and lots of it!

I'm sure the neighbourhood dogs will enjoy them immensely.

Now here's my stuff from this week:

Quick "sketch" painting from my "Expressive Painting Class" which was to be done with only 3 colours and no white.
And here's where I'm at with the bull frog:

And here's where I'm at with Kurt's:

.......hmmmm, maybe soon there'll be something to put here.

Here's where I'm at on the bull frog.

Today Mr. Hunter and I were discussing what he should be for Halloween this year (you can never start planning too early!) and he was thinking a vampire.  I explained to him though that it's currently in style to be a sexy vampire without fangs, not a scary one.  He doesn't agree with my assessment of the current trends and spent the afternoon practising his scary vampire face.

I Want To Look Happy Like Megan......

I was over on Megan's blog and she looked happy.  Well, sort of happy in a perplexed kind of way.  I want to be happy like Megan.  She is happy because she has already received her copy of the OPE zine

I am not happy.  I find it upsetting that others have already finished reading their issue before I have even received mine.  Kurt doesn't live so far away that he couldn't drive for a day or two to cross the border and mail it through Canada Post so I could get it quicker.  He says he's unemployed for goodness sakes.  On the other hand, maybe they won't let him cross the border.....Nope, I can't see that.  We let everybody in.  Even Tamil Tigers are entering in a steady stream and I think they're scarier than Kurt.  Maybe.  Okay, scarier but not weirder.

Sigh.  Oh well, back to stalking the mailman.  Should you wish to inquire about purchasing a copy for yourself just click on the OPE link or just show up at his door with your questions.  He'd probably like that.

She Looked Happy.......

Today we went for a walk to Starbucks and saw a lady ordering coffee.  Even though this isn't Hollywood, she had a purse puppy.  You know the type.  Designer clothes, make-up, great hair, high heel shoes and a chihuahua in a purse.  She looked spoiled.  She looked rich.  She looked happy.

I decided I wanted to look spoiled, rich and happy like that.  I don't have expensive clothes, a designer purse or a chihuahua, and I only own one set of heels.  My funeral/wedding heels, but I was sure could work with what I've got and still be happy.

So I did................

I didn't feel rich or spoiled and Hunter wasn't happy (neither was Mr. P for that matter) but I felt a little bit happy.

p.s.  for those of you who are concerned for the welfare of my family (and dog)....art classes will be starting in a couple of weeks so I'll put my creative energies towards do doing good instead of evil.

Happy Time.....

This morning I cycled in to work with Mr. P over in Aylmer and stopped to cool down at Mocha Loca with a nice hot coffee.  It's back in the 90's F and friggin' hot early on in the day.

As I sat there a young man who appeared to be somewhere in his 20's with shoulder length wavy blond hair, piercing blue eyes, barefoot, wearing nothing but cutoffs came sauntering up to the tree on the front lawn of the coffee shop, dropped his skateboard and mini guitar and proceeded to climb.

He spent about a half hour whistling as he climbed, hung upside down, climbed some more, until his friend came along and he got down.  He seemed happy.  A little old to be climbing trees mostly naked first thing in the morning, but happy none the less.  Carefree.

I cycled home thinking of how happy this fellow seemed and how I would like to feel happy like that too.  So I climbed my trees to see if I could feel that way.

  You know what?  I did!

I'll thank you not to laugh at the fact that my trees are smaller than normal trees you would climb.  Sometimes you've just gotta work with what you've got!
