I've been without chocolate for over a week now. Actually....8 days, 6 hrs, 11 min, 32 seconds to be exact.
Why do I do this to myself. To my family and friends?
I suppose I just want to get to a place where I'm not totally dependent on it to get through a day.
I heard one of my coffee buddies say he's been working out regularily and on a healthy eating plan and because of such control has lost weight. He went though a list of what he eats in a day and described his workout plan. He then mutters,
"Oh ya....and I have a bit of chocolate." He said this like it was a bad thing. In fact he muttered it under his breath!
My other coffee buddy also is known to partake in a wee bit now and then. They are both my cousins.
Could this be a hereditary thing? Could my chocolate addiction be something in my DNA and somethng I don't really have the ability to control or change. Like certain aboriginals and alcohol?
You may say to me,
"But don't be ridiculous Perp. So many people love chocolate beyond what some would consider reasonable." In fact a large portion of the population does.
One of my kids likes chocolate alright, but prefers vanilla. What happend there? Who is this freak? How did she come from me????
Is it possible that non chocolate lovers are the ones with the problem? Maybe something went wrong in the womb or they fell and bumped their heads when they were little. (Sorry 4 of 4. I didn't mean to drop you down the stairs.) Is non chocoholicism a genetic quirk? Might I even say a sickness?
You know, I think I'll go with that. If you aren't a chocolate lover then YOU are the freak.
Oh, and by the way. Eating chocolate chip cookies one day this week, sniffing the kids chocolate Easter Bunnies every night before bed and smelling the cocoa when I was making brownies last night doesn't count as "eating chocolate". You can't give up everything. A girls gotta live you know.

well.... you may not be far off. I just heard that there are actually genes that cause people to want coffee...and which also determine how quickly the liver actually breaks it down in our bodies.......so why not chocolate?
And..I always say...don't deprive yourself. It's not having a little bit here and there that is the problem really.... it's more if we fall off the wagon totally and scarf a whole bar or something..... don't do it! Just savour and enjoy a little bite here and there...no big deal. Yes you can!
I don't get it.
When I switched to a "heart healthy" diet two years ago, I lost twenty pounds, and I wasn't even trying. The diet, by the way, includes regular small amounts of dark chocolate.
chocolate here is so much better then chocolate there, i couldn't give it up ever!
