Just started this one.
One more week to go with this model.  Considering I did miss a week due to family responsibilities it's not coming along too badly.  If I can finish the figure next week the rest I can ad lib at home.

Friday Feb 18

Blogger and/or the network is playing an early April Fools joke on me.  It doesn't want to post my pictures and when it does it puts them up sideways.  I've given up and am leaving one that way.  The others will have to wait for another day as it has now locked me out totally;-(

Friday, February 11

I was quite enjoying drawing today although have a headache after the 6 hours I spent doing it.    The drawings appear a bit light due to the flash on my camera.  This young model was quite skinny and bones were protruding everywhere.  Her limbs were so skinny they looked odd when drawn as they actually were so I may have plumped them up a tad.

My brother came to draw today.  It was good to see him at a time other than Christmas, etc....  Hopefully it will become a habit.

If you saw yesterday's post you may notice due to Kurts comment I changed the name of the painting.  Yes, just like that!

Here's the imprematura for my next painting which is supposed to start Wednesday if I don't have any more sick kids home with me.
I decided on green this time because my tubes of green paint remain suspiciously plump.  I don't think I've every really used them.  If I want green I usually just mix it, which is pretty much never anyways.  Green is a puzzle to me.  I find it quite a confounding colour.  I realize that my coloured pencil work I am currently working on is a frog series.  Green frogs.  That being said, I am only now getting a hint at how to work with the colour in coloured pencils.  It's still a mystery to me in paint.
The top drawings are from Friday's drawing group.  Mr. P. thinks this is my favourite model and that my face lights up when his name is said.  I do like this model, but I can't say he is my favorite.  He is a large ball of masculine energy with a gutteral sounding Portuguese name that's fun to say, that's all.  One of my favourite models actually sat beside me last Friday afternoon and will be modelling this week.  You'll remember him from previous drawings as the Kurt look a like with a British accent.  Not that you can see his accent;-)  He too, like Kurt, is a teacher.  Makes me wonder if his students know what he does on the side;-0

As for who makes my top favourites in the female category, well, they are all skeletal in shape and don't get hired nearly enough.
I've also started working on a couple more that I'll post once I get a bit further on them.

I Am Here.......

I am here....

And here.......
Mr. P. and Ms. Vicki are here......
And here......

He wrote me this e-mail......

Dear Sandi,

How can I work in these conditions. Sun, heat, beaches and palm trees. Sand gets mixed in with my sunscreen. I miss the snow. I can't wait to see snow on my airplane's wings again :-)

Love Tim

And I replied like this.....

Dear Mr. P.,

Bastard!

S.

Today I drove through a snowstorm to work on this......
Which I still want to work on at home even though I no longer have access to the model.  I find painting with oils extremly frustrating, but I refuse to give up.  The work isn't actually this orange.  I took the photo in the dusky there's a snowstorm outside light.

Tomorrow when Mr. P. plans on getting home I won't be here.  I'm going to an art show so I don't have to smell that California odour he'll no doubt be wearing when he gets home.

When he got home from Arizona I told him he smelled weird and smokey.  He told me that oddly enough he found Arizona smelled like mesquite.  If he came home smelling like the beach I fear I might have to do him an injury;-)

I'm So Cool?

I made a quick stop on the way home this evening from picking up 2 of 4 at the local fruit and veggie mart.  Tomorrows snow storm may make driving difficult and I want to have food!

When we got to the cash and were waiting in line I saw some lovely grapefruits nearby and dashed over to pick a couple up.  While walking back to the cash 2 of 4 glanced over and I held them up against my chest as if they were.....well, you know, and made a prissy face.  I'll do anything I think may embarrass my kids.
The cashier then started to ring us through.

"I don't know if I should touch those!" the cashier exclaims.

"Huh?" I ask confused

"You know, the breasts." she answers pointing to the grapefruits laughing.

"Your Mom is so cool!  That was great!!!" She tells my daughter.

Now I'm not sure if like good is bad if cool is the new term for the word idiot, but that's not the first time I've heard that lately.  2 of 4 had a couple of friends over and I asked them if Sarah had turned them gay yet in her quest for a new best friend.  The young guy in the group, after getting over his initial shock turned to her and said, yes, you guessed it....

"Your Mom is cool!"  I later found out his Father is a fashionista according to 2.

I don't know if I'm actually cool.  I suspect not, but at least my artwork made it as artwork  of the month on the Figureworks site!
