One more week 'till school starts.

My Green Bean~Praying Mantis

I was weeding the flower garden when I saw a green bean lying on the soil. I was disgusted that the squirrels were relocating my vegetables yet again 'till the green bean moved! I wouldn't want to eat this green bean, would you?

P.S.  Yes, I do wear reading glasses.  Why'd you ask?

Ewwww.  We found this a couple of weekends ago while visiting the country.  Another good reason to stay in the city for sure!

I googled it and found out that it's a male Dobsonfly.  They are about 5 inches long, which is just what this rather larger fellow appeared to be.  The males have pincers too long to bite but the females are a different story!  Don't make one of those babies mad!  I poked at and irritated this one enough that it did a bit of posturing and threatening as people looked on and gave me odd looks (big chickens!)

Luckily it didn't get so threatened that it used it's last line of defense.  A foul smelling anal spray.  That would have been fun.

Well, our house guest has gone.  I keep thinking Hunter will show some signs of missing Jasper but so far it doesn't appear so.  But then the only time he really shows any emotion is at the mention of food or the "W" word.

We managed to find some more frogs for future drawings.
